About the Book
The Chronicles Of Gabby Meier is a Historical novel based on the life of Gabby Meier, a small town girl who enlists in the United States Maine Corps after the attack by Japan on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The story recalls her life from her late teens through her enlistment and subsequent assignment with the United States Civil Service Commission. It is a story of joy, tragedy and victory as Gabby and her reluctant best friend Martha, navigate the rigors of basic training, assimilation into the unwelcoming WW2 military machine and their assignments to the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany where they would witness the horrors of the Nuremberg trials first hand. It is a story that is multi-faceted, referencing Gabby’s early years through her adult life, her struggle with alcoholism and ultimately her reunification with her estranged daughter. It is fast paced, intimate, sometimes tragic and socially provocative.

Gabrielle Meier sat by the window, watching as Sunday unfolded beyond the glass. On the manicured lawn, some patients strolled aimlessly, their solitude a quiet echo of her own. Others clustered with visiting families; their low murmurs occasionally carried on the breeze.
No one was coming for Gabby.
She sat tall and poised despite the loneliness, her presence elegant even in standard-issue hospital scrubs. At forty-five, her beauty was untouched by time—thick waves of chestnut-brown hair framed a lightly freckled face, and her hazel eyes still held a glint of mischief. Her mouth curved just slightly at the corners, as if always on the verge of a smile. At five-eleven, she moved with an easy grace that never quite left her, even here.
