About the Book

The Chronicles Of Gabby Meier is a Historical novel based on the life of Gabby Meier, a small town girl who enlists in the United States Maine Corps after the attack by Japan on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The story recalls her life from her late teens through her enlistment and subsequent assignment with the United States Civil Service Commission. It is a story of joy, tragedy and victory as Gabby and her reluctant best friend Martha, navigate the rigors of basic training, assimilation into the unwelcoming WW2 military machine and their assignments to the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany where they would witness the horrors of the Nuremberg trials first hand. It is a story that is multi-faceted, referencing Gabby’s early years through her adult life, her struggle with alcoholism and ultimately her reunification with her estranged daughter. It is fast paced, intimate, sometimes tragic and socially provocative.
